Columbia Bridge & Iron, Inc.'s policy is to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel.  This is achieved through proper inspection, guidance and adherence to safety codes and standards.  Columbia Bridge & Iron is committed to continuous and extensive safety training of all employees and supervisors, ensuring an injury free workforce.

Our superintendent and foremen hold weekly safety tailgate meetings specific to steel erection and deck installation.  They also do a job specific safety checklist and identify safety issues for individual projects.  Supervisors take the necessary steps to eliminate existing and potential hazards.  This information is shared with employees and management.

CBI's safety officer has a relentless drive for improvement in our safety record.  He is an ironworker and his experience give him the ability to assess and respond quickly to safety hazards.  He makes unannounced jobsite inspections, which gives us an accurate picture of our performance.  We also encourage OSHA to visit and offer consultations on specific jobs.

In partnership with the Ironworkers we have implemented a Drug-Free environment, with a drug-testing component.

Our continuous focus and effective management has given us an experience modification rate that is below industry average.
